MAN UP final: 18th November

This past Wednesday I took Ollie to The Glory for their drag king contest, MAN UP. I was excited and mildly terrified, having never performed in this context before – a sweaty bar and a (blood)thirsty crowd. But I’m super pleased to say that Ollie has made it through to the final, which is next Wednesday 18th November. He will be in esteemed company, not least with excellent pals Figs In Wigs and johnsmith.

Photos from this week soon.

The Glory is at:
281 Kingsland Road, E2 8AS

NOW ’16 at The Yard

I’m very pleased that I’m going to be part of The Yard‘s annual festival, NOW ’16, in Spring next year, alongside a line up of really excellent artists: Emma Frankland, Ponyboy Curtis and Dog Kennel Hill Project.

The Yard currently have a call out for new work to be part of each weekly double bill. For more info and to apply go to www.theyardtheatre.co.uk.

Deadline for applications is the 20th November.

Be Gentle With Me, Shoreditch Town Hall, 6 & 7 November

In November I am doing two nights of showings of Be Gentle With Me at Shoreditch Town Hall. Throughout 2014-15 I have done several small solo showings of the piece as it has been developing, and I am now really excited to invite you to the first public sharings of the ‘bigger’ version of the show, presented with performer Gerard Bell.

These will be work-in-development showings.

6th November 7pm & 7th November 7.30pm
Tickets £11, booking here: www.shoreditchtownhall.com

Break Yourself as part of Calm Down, Dear 2015

This performance will still be in-development, as it was at Ovalhouse, and I’m delighted to then be embarking on the next round of work to finish the show this Autumn.

Keine Angst in Marburg

On the 9th May I’m presenting Keine Angst in Marburg, Germany, as part of an interdisciplinary symposium entitled Angst: Haben – Nutzen – Kosten about angst/fear. I’m incredibly excited (and, appropriately, terrified) to be re-staging the show bilingually so that it will be performed partly in English, and partly in German. This is the first time I’ve done this with any of my work, or performed in German at all (at least, since the age of 10). I’ll also be participating in a panel discussion around ‘Cultures of Fear’.
