About Ira Brand

Ira is a performer, writer and theatre-maker, working across theatre and live art. She is a solo artist and core member of collaborative performance groups, Tinned Fingers and Antique Women. She regularly also works in collaboration with other companies, which have included People Show, Living Structures, Kings of England and Made In China.

Ira is interested in the forms and possibilities of the audience-performer relationship. She likes talking to her audience, and makes work that is gutsy and exciting, but also tender and moving.

Her work often seeks to explore the encounter between the mundane and extraordinary, and utilises a ‘handmade’ aesthetic, embracing the economy, satisfaction, and inherent optimism of re-using everyday materials, and aiming to create striking imagery through simple means. Ira's work is also funny, and she is committed to making work that uses experimental modes of performance but remains humorous, playful and accessible to a wide audience.

Ira also works as an Associate Producer for Forest Fringe and Living Structures.
