MAN UP final: 18th November

Date : November 14, 2015

This past Wednesday I took Ollie to The Glory for their drag king contest, MAN UP. I was excited and mildly terrified, having never performed in this context before – a sweaty bar and a (blood)thirsty crowd. But I’m super pleased to say that Ollie has made it through to the final, which is next Wednesday 18th November. He will be in esteemed company, not least with excellent pals Figs In Wigs and johnsmith.

Photos from this week soon.

The Glory is at:
281 Kingsland Road, E2 8AS

Keine Angst in Marburg

Date : May 5, 2015

On the 9th May I’m presenting Keine Angst in Marburg, Germany, as part of an interdisciplinary symposium entitled Angst: Haben – Nutzen – Kosten about angst/fear. I’m incredibly excited (and, appropriately, terrified) to be re-staging the show bilingually so that it will be performed partly in English, and partly in German. This is the first time I’ve done this with any of my work, or performed in German at all (at least, since the age of 10). I’ll also be participating in a panel discussion around ‘Cultures of Fear’.

Be Gentle With Me at Sprint & Buzzcut

Date : February 6, 2015

This Spring/Summer I am developing a new performance based on some early experiments from last year. Be Gentle With Me is about notions of ‘health’ and ‘illness’, the nature of pain, and our bodies as changing, fluctuating, things.

I’m presenting two in-progress sharings in March, at Camden People Theatre’s excellent Sprint Festival, and the equally delightful Buzzcut in Glasgow. Dates below and more about the piece here.
